Australian Shepherd






The Australian shepherd despite the name did not originate from Australia.


 It is a breed of working dogs that was developed in the United States of America Around the 19th century. 


This dog is also commonly known as the aussie.



 As common with all working breeds the Australian shepherd has a lot of energy and drive with which it performs its jobs very enthusiastically.

 It excels in man dog sports such as the Frisbee or the Dog agility. 


The general appearance of the breed varies with the line’s emphasis in particular.



 There are many differences of opinions about what kind of breeding would make an ideal shepherd. 







An Australian shepherd can be between 18 to 23 inches while it is standing depending upon the various types of breeds that are available.


 It can also weigh between about 16 to 34 kgs. They come in about 8 different colors which are blue merle, red merle, black and red and each of these may also have copper points on eyebrows and legs and can also be in a combination of 4 different colors.

 The main feature of the breed is the short bobbed or the docked tail that it possess.


 Docked tail aussies are only in countries where docking is allowed.
